Chair Kaino called the Joint Public Safety Personnel Retirement Board meeting to order at 8:00 a.m.

Review and discussion regarding protocols and procedures for hand injuries.
Lyman Locket, Human Resources Director, introduced the item at the Board’s request and turned the presentation over to Nikki Cross, Loss Control Specialist.
Ms. Cross provided an overview of the process for work-related injuries, highlighting recent enhancements. She explained that the City has expanded its network of medical and physical therapy providers and increased communication with those providers. She also noted the use of Ready Rebound by the Police Department to assist with care coordination and approvals, with potential future use by the Fire Department. Additionally, she explained that certain injuries, such as hand or limb injuries with a pain level of three or greater, will automatically trigger imaging.
The Board expressed support for the expanded provider network and improved communication. Board members also emphasized the importance of training and educating staff on the process, including developing department-specific flowcharts for Police and Fire.
