Commissioner and chair Maddelynn Smith called the meeting to order at 12:11 p.m.

VOLGISTICS TRAINING (JEREMY DYCK, NEIGHBORHOOD SERVICES MANAGER)
Neighborhood Services Manager Jeremy Dyck walked the commissioners through how to log in to Volgistics and ensured they had their volunteer number.
 
3.
REVIEW OF OFFICERS AND SCHEDULE FOR THE YEAR. (MADDELYNN SMITH & ALEXA LOEFFELHOLZ, YOUTH COMMISSIONERS, JEREMY DYCK, NEIGHBORHOOD SERVICES MANAGER)
Chair Maddelynn Smith and Co-chair Alexa Loeffelholz spoke briefly regarding their hopes for the upcoming year. Neighborhood Services Manager Jeremy Dyck reviewed the annual schedule covering meeting dates and points tracking.
 
4.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES (JEREMY DYCK, NEIGHBORHOOD SERVICES MANAGER)
Neighborhood Services Manager Jeremy reviewed all annual volunteer opportunities. We asked for volunteers to serve on the Arts & Culture Commission and the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee. Additionally, we discussed the opportunity to interview Goodyear’s Mayor and Council and lead an introductory Q&A with our elected officials each month. Our tentative schedule and list of volunteers is listed below:
Arts & Culture:

 
  • Primary – Rachel Barnes
  • Alternate – Ella Brinker
  • 2nd Alternate – Alliyah Rafael

Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee:
 
  • Primary – Graham Holmes
  • Alternate – Isabella Franco
  • 2nd Alternate – Mercedes Martinez
  • 3rd Alternate – Kendall Datcher

Interviews:
  • August 26th, 2026- Mayor Pizzillo – Ella Brinker
  • September 23rd, 2026 – Vice Mayor Hampton - Aariya Singh
  • October 28th, 2026 – Councilmember Laura Kaino - Shivansh Jasrotia
  • November 18th, 2026 – Councilwoman Vicki Gillis - Isabella Franco
  • January 27th, 2027 – Councilmember Benita Beckles - Kendall Datcher
  • February 24th, 2027 – Councilmember Trey Terry – Jaylyn Colvin
  • March 24th, 2027 – Councilmember Sheri Lauritano: Maddelynn Smith

 
 
5.
BYLAWS DISCUSSION (JEREMY DYCK, NEIGHBORHOOD SERVICES MANAGER)
  1. The youth commission engaged in a spirited discussion regarding how they would like to see our by-laws structured:
    1. Mission & Purpose – Commission members will come to our next meeting prepared with suggestions regarding our stated mission and purpose.
    2. Membership – Commission agreed that we should cap our numbers to no more than 35.
    3. Terms — Current terms should remain the same. Commissioners are appointed to a 2-year term and can serve 2 terms.
    4. Attendance – Change to allow only 3 absences regardless of whether excused/unexcused.
    5. Volunteer Hours – develop a minimum number of required volunteer hours or number of events.
    6. Application Process – Remains the same. However, 2nd term commissioners must go through the same application process as new applicants. No automatic renewals.
 
6.
ANNUAL PROJECTS (JEREMY DYCK, NEIGHBORHOOD SERVICES MANAGER)
The commission discussed various project opportunities and decided on three specific projects:
    1. April InFocus edition
    2. 2nd annual Need4Speed safe driving event
    3. Environmental Sustainability Workgroup
