Public Engagement for Civic Square Public Art Update (Administrator Ozlanski)
Administrator Ozlanksi gave the commission an update on the various community engagement tactics being used to generate words, text and phrases to be used in the public art piece at Civic Square. The Artist and Goodyear staff solicited feedback from the public through social media platforms, local schools and art and culture groups. The campaign focus is on finding out what "text" describes what Goodyear represents to the citizens.

Annual Art Plan Discussion (Commissioner Barnes)
Commissioner Barnes and Chairman Fee will be presenting the FY2022 Public Art Plan to council on April 26th, 2001. Among the accomplishments are the Recreation Campus, the two fire stations and the Civic Square. Commissioner Barnes expressed how exciting it is to see all these projects coming to completion.

Communication and Advocacy Subcommittee Update (Commissioner Cross)
Commissioner Cross gave a brief overview of the video being produced to raise awareness of the commission. The high energy, fast-paced video will contain pictures of past art events in an effort to advocate for the arts in a virtual world. The goal is to engage the community in the arts through the video.

Special Events Updates (Commissioner Jones)
Administrator Ozlanski gave a brief overview of Shakespeare in the Park held at Bullard Wash Amphitheater. In-spite of COVID-19 restrictions the show was an excellent success and everyone is looking forward to growing the event post-pandemic. Commissioner Jones was thanked for her generous contributions to the success of the event from the backdrop to her participation.

Poetry Illuminated Update (Administrator Ozlanski)
Art Specialist Prather gave the commission an update on upcoming Poetry Illuminated event. She has identified a painting technique using luminescent powder that will allow the poetry to be read during the day and night. Bonnie Lewis is going to hand paint the six winning poems and each poet will read their poem.

Administrator Ozlanski asked the commissioners for ideas and recommendations for future projects. In her current plan art work for Fire Station 188 as well as the Traffic Cabinets projects have been approved. The Western Ave Bridge Gateway project has been eliminated from the plan. Among the project ideas are: historic artistic panels along Bullard Wash trail, art and shade at Goodyear Community Park, destination art, culinary art, story-write by local authors, storytellers, group dance like Jerusalema, art walk where the artist walks around with their art, decorated benches/seating Bullard Trail, community ensembles, art camp and film festival.
