DISCUSSION:
The La Habra City School District (District) is planning to offer an Expanded Learning Opportunity Program (ELOP) during the summer of 2022 that will provide students with a full-day extended learning experience consisting of a morning academic program, a nutritious lunch, and an afternoon enrichment session. The District has requested the City provide the planning and programming for the afternoon enrichment session to include recreation classes and activities meant to facilitate social, physical, and mental health development that would complement the District's morning academic program.
The City's participation in the ELOP will consist of assigning Recreation Leaders and contract instructors to lead appropriate grade-level curriculum in dance, music, martial arts, science, cooking, and other related topics/activities. The District has agreed to pay the City $40,000 to administer this program, which will run from June 8, 2022 to July 7, 2022.
