APPROVE AND ADOPT A RESOLUTION CERTIFYING THE RESULTS OF THE NOVEMBER 8, 2022, GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION

RECOMMENDATION:


That the City Council APPROVE AND ADOPT RESOLUTION NO. ______ ENTITLED: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA HABRA, CALIFORNIA, RECITING THE FACT OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD ON NOVEMBER 8, 2022, DECLARING THE RESULT AND SUCH OTHER MATTERS AS PROVIDED BY LAW.

DISCUSSION:

The November 8, 2022, General Municipal Election was held for the purpose of La Habra voters electing two (2) full term members and one (1) short term member to the La Habra City Council.  Election Code Section 10262 requires the City to pass a resolution reciting the facts of the municipal election following the canvass and certification of the election by the Orange County Registrar of Voters.  The Orange County Registrar of Voters certified the election results on December 2, 2022 (Exhibit A).

The results of the election for Member of the City Council are as follows:

The results affirm that Jose Medrano and James Gomez were elected as Members of the City Council for the full term of four years each, and Daren Nigsarian was elected as Member of the City Council for the short term of two years.  Attached to the resolution is the certified statement of the results of the election, as provided by the Orange County Registrar of Voters.

 

FISCAL IMPACT/SOURCE OF FUNDING:

There is no fiscal impact associated with the certification of the election results.
