| SUBJECT: | APPROVE DENIAL OF LIABILITY CLAIM OF STATE FARM MUTUAL AUTO INSURANCE CO.

RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council deny the claim of State Farm Mutual Auto Insurance Co. in order to set a definite six-month Statute of Limitations date.
DISCUSSION:
On June 21, 2023, State Farm Auto Insurance Co. filed a property damage claim on behalf of their insured, Brian Villalobos (a City of San Gabriel resident), in the amount of $7,058.34 for damages to Mr. Villalobos’ vehicle. The claim alleges that on March 8, 2023, Mr. Villalobos' vehicle was traveling through the intersection of Whittier Boulevard and Harbor Boulevard, when another vehicle also entered the intersection and struck his vehicle due to an allegedly malfunctioning traffic signal. The location where the alleged incident occurred is owned and maintained by Caltrans, not the City of La Habra.
