SUBJECT:
APPROVE NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR ALLEY NO. 27, 45, AND 86 IMPROVEMENT, FISCAL YEAR 2020-2021, CITY PROJECT NO. 2-R-20

RECOMMENDATION:

That the City Council approve the Notice of Completion for the Alley No. 27, 45, and 86 Improvement, Fiscal Year 2020-2021, City Project No. 2-R-20, and authorize staff to file the Notice of Completion for recordation.

DISCUSSION:

On September 19, 2022, the City Council awarded a construction contract to Superior Paving Company Inc. dba United Paving Co., of Corona, California, in the amount of $330,666, which included a 20% contingency, for the construction of the Alley No. 27, 45, and 86 Improvement, Fiscal Year 2020-2021, City Project No. 2-R-20.

The Project included asphalt paving of approximately 12,500 square feet of alley pavement, installation of approximately 570 lineal feet of longitudinal gutters and 200 square feet of alley approaches, and incidental utility adjustments and tree removal. All improvements have now been completed and staff conducted a final inspection and found that the work was completed satisfactorily in accordance with the Project's contract specifications and City standards.  Upon acceptance of the Project by the City Council, staff will file a Notice of Completion (Attachment 1) for recordation at the Orange County Clerk-Recorder’s Office.

FISCAL IMPACT/SOURCE OF FUNDING:

The total construction cost for the project was $249,280 or $81,386 less than the approved purchase order amount of $330,666; therefore, there are sufficient funds to release retention and file the Notice of Completion.
