| TO: | HONORABLE MAYOR AND COUNCILMEMBERS |

| SUBJECT: | APPROVE AND AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE POPULATION AND COMMUNITY HEALTH AFFILIATION AGREEMENT WITH CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY, FULLERTON (CSUF) FOR A THREE-YEAR TERM
|
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council approve and authorize the City Manager to execute an agreement with California State University, Fullerton (CSUF), which would allow CSUF students to complete their training in support of Community Services Department programs at the City of La Habra for a three-year term.
DISCUSSION:
The City of La Habra's Community Services Department has partnered with CSUF for many years to be one of the programs that CSUF students may select as their training necessary to graduate. CSUF students benefit from this relationship as it helps satisfy the school's graduation requirements, as well as provide students with valuable real world experience working in a child development program. The City benefits from the relationship by mentoring students who can assist staff with child development operations and identifying students who may be interested in future employment with the City working in the Child Development program.
A central goal of the program is for prospective child development students to gain practical experience working with children. Any CSUF students who wish to participate in this program are required to abide by all City of La Habra employment policies, and both City staff and CSUF administration monitor their work activity.
