SUBJECT:
APPROVE NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR THE STEVE SIMONIAN OLD RESERVOIR PARK IMPROVEMENTS, CITY PROJECT NO. 2-P-20

RECOMMENDATION:

That the City Council approve the Notice of Completion for the Steve Simonian Old Reservoir Park Improvements, City Project No. 2-P-20 and authorize staff to send the Notice of Completion for recordation.

DISCUSSION:

On December 5, 2022, City Council awarded a construction contract to EC Construction Company of South El Monte, California, in the amount of $2,012,400, which included a 20 percent contingency, for the construction of the Steve Simonian Old Reservoir Park Improvements, City Project No. 2-P-20. The Project involved the full renovation of the formerly named Reservoir Park. The project included clearing and grubbing, grading, drainage improvements, construction of a new retaining wall, new landscaping and irrigation, installation of new playground equipment, a gazebo style shaded picnic area, a stamped concrete monument sign, picnic tables and benches, exercise equipment, drinking fountain, a walking path, safety lighting and security cameras throughout the park.

All improvements have been completed and staff conducted a final inspection and found that the work was completed satisfactorily in accordance with the Project's plans, contract specifications and City Standards. Upon acceptance of the Project by City Council, staff will file the Notice of Completion (Attachment No.1) for recordation at the Orange County Clerk-Recorder's Office and release retention.

FISCAL IMPACT/SOURCE OF FUNDING:

The Project has an approved construction budget of $2,012,400. The total construction cost for the Project was $1,907,150.43 or $105,249.57 less than the approved purchase order amount of $2,012,400; therefore, there are sufficient funds to release retention and file the Notice of Completion.
