APPROVE DENIAL OF LIABILITY CLAIM OF ANGELA SUAREZ AND JANESSA DURAN

RECOMMENDATION:


That the City Council deny the claim of Angela Suarez and Janessa Duran in order to set a definite six-month Statute of Limitations date.

DISCUSSION:

An attorney from Injury Legal Center, P.C., filed two separate claims against the City on February 25, 2025, on behalf of their clients, Angela Suarez, mother, and Janessa Duran, a minor child, both City of Placentia residents, for damages in the amount of $422,458.65 for Ms. Angela Suarez and $198,233.90 for Ms. Janessa Duran. Both claims allege that on September 15, 2024, a police pursuit that began in the City of La Habra and ended in a collision in the City of Placentia, caused bodily injuries and property damage to the claimants.
