Item No. 2.
| MEETING DATE: 07/19/2021 |
|
| TO: | HONORABLE MAYOR AND COUNCILMEMBERS |
| FROM: | JIM SADRO, CITY MANAGER By: Rob Ferrier, Assistant to the City Manager |
| SUBJECT: | CONSIDER THE DESIGNATION OF VOTING DELEGATE AND ALTERNATES TO THE LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA CITIES ANNUAL CONFERENCE
|
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council designate a voting delegate and up to two alternate voting delegates to attend the League of California Cities (LOCC) Annual Conference in Sacramento, September 22-24, 2021.
DISCUSSION:
Each year the LOCC hosts an annual conference for its member cities. This year the conference will occur in Sacramento, September 22-24, 2021. The LOCC Annual Business Meeting will occur on Friday, September 24, at which time member cities will consider and vote upon resolutions that establish LOCC policy. The resolutions are currently being drafted and will be presented to the City Council for consideration at a future City Council meeting.
In order to be eligible to cast a vote during the Annual Business Meeting, the City Council must first designate a voting delegate from among its members. Each city may also appoint up to two alternate voting delegates; the first alternate would only cast his/her city's vote in the event the delegate is unable to attend the Annual Business Meeting. The second alternate would only cast his/her city's vote in the event both the voting delegate and the first delegate are unable to attend the Annual Business Meeting (Attachment 1). The voting delegate or alternate must be in attendance to cast his/her city's vote.
