SUBJECT:
APPROVE NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR THE CORONA PARK SHADE STRUCTURE PROJECT AT 735 5TH AVENUE, CITY PROJECT NO. 1-P-23

RECOMMENDATION:

That the City Council approve the Notice of Completion for the Corona Park Shade Structure Project at 735 5th Avenue, City Project No. 1-P-23, and authorize staff to submit the Notice of Completion for recordation.

DISCUSSION:

On March 20, 2023, the City Council awarded a construction contract to Western State Builders, Inc., of Escondido, California in the amount of $77,260, which included a ten percent (10%) contingency, for the construction of the Corona Park Shade Structure, City Project No. 1-P-23 ("Project"). The project consisted of the complete installation of a shade structure including pole foundations, poles, shade fabric and other incidental work to fit within the existing footprint of the playground equipment at Corona Park.

Staff conducted a final inspection and found that the work was completed in accordance with the manufacturer's shade structure drawings, specifications, and City standards. Upon acceptance of the Project by the City Council, staff will file a Notice of Completion (Attachment 1) for recordation at the Orange County Clerk-Recorder's Office.

FISCAL IMPACT/SOURCE OF FUNDING:

The total construction cost for the project was $70,236, which is 10 percent, or $7,024 less than the approved purchase order amount of $77,260. Therefore, there are sufficient funds to release the retention payment and file the Notice of Completion.

LU 2.5 Place Supporting Quality of Life
OS 2.14 Healthy Parks
