SUBJECT: CONSIDER LETTERS TO THE ORANGE COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY'S OFFICE AND CALIFORNIA FAIR POLITICAL PRACTICES COMMISSION

RECOMMENDATION:

That the City Council review the attached letters and provide direction to staff.

DISCUSSION:

At its meeting on October 21, 2020, City Council directed staff to prepare letters to the Orange County District Attorney's Office and the California Fair Political Practices Commission to open separate investigations as it relates to a purported audio recording of Councilmember Shaw that has been made public on social media.  Those draft letters are included herein as Attachments 1 and 2.

FISCAL IMPACT/SOURCE OF FUNDING:

There is no fiscal impact associated with this action.
