| SUBJECT: | APPROVE TO RATIFY THE LA HABRA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE BEAUTIFICATION COMMITTEE APPOINTMENT |
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council approve to ratify the La Habra Chamber of Commerce appointment of Sammy Kotob to the City's Beautification Committee to fill the vacancy created as a result of the resignation of Skarleth Sauceda.
DISCUSSION:
The Beautification Committee consists of seven members. Three positions are appointed by City Council, and four positions are appointed by the La Habra Chamber of Commerce (Chamber). On February 17, 2021, the City Clerk's Office was notified of the resignation of Skarleth Saucedo (Attachment No. 1). Ms. Saucedo was appointed to the Beautification Committee on May 15, 2017. Because this position was appointed by the Chamber, the vacancy is to be filled by the Chamber.
On May 17, 2021, La Habra Chamber of Commerce President Marie Laveaga notified the City that at its General Board meeting of April 26, 2021, the Chamber appointed Sammy Kotob to the Beautification Committee (Attachment No. 2). Subsequently, Sammy Kotob, who is a La Habra resident and an active member of the Chamber and the Knights of Columbus, submitted a Citizens' Board & Commission Application on May 14, 2021 (Attachment No. 3).

FISCAL IMPACT/SOURCE OF FUNDING:
None. Beautification Committee members do not earn a stipend.
