| SUBJECT: | APPROVE THE PURCHASE OF NETWORK VIRTUALIZATION EQUIPMENT FROM GLOBAL START TECHNOLOGIES (GST)

RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council approve and authorize the City Manager to execute a purchase order in the amount of $136,654.64 with Global Star Technologies (GST) for the purchase of a Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) Nimble Storage Area Network (SAN) equipment and DL380 Gen10 server.
DISCUSSION:
Staff is recommending the purchase of one HPE Nimble SAN and one DL380 Gen10 server. This purchase is to replace equipment that has reached its service limits and is no longer supported by warranty. Replacement of the existing equipment will increase the processing speed and capability of the City's network storage system. Multiple quotes were solicited from HPE authorized resellers with GST providing the lowest competitive price as noted in the table below. In addition to providing the lowest competitive bid, GST is a platinum partner of HPE and a local company with certified HPE Systems Engineers available to provide immediate support as necessary.

FISCAL IMPACT/SOURCE OF FUNDING:
The current equipment is scheduled to be replaced in Fiscal Year 2020-2021. Sufficient funding for this purchase was approved as part of the Fiscal Year 2020-2021 adopted budget (Account #165152-8919). No additional appropriation will be required.
