AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION OR LEGISLATION TITLE:

AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE SAFETY/SERVICE DIRECTOR TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH THE LOWEST AND BEST BIDDER FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF WATER INFRASTRUCTURE WITHIN THE CITY OF LORAIN’S WATER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

PURPOSE AND BACKGROUND:

WHEREAS, the Utilities Department has determined that a transmission main valve located near the Fulton Tower is near critical failure and requires immediate replacement; and
 
WHEREAS, the Utilities Department is unable to perform the work themselves and is in need of contracted services to perform the necessary replacement; and
 
WHEREAS, the replacement of this valve is necessary to ensure proper operation of the water distribution system and provide quality potable water to customers.
