WHEREAS,      impaired driving—whether caused by alcohol, illegal drugs, or misused prescription medications—remains a preventable and serious public safety concern across the nation and within the City of Lorain; and
WHEREAS,      the Lorain Police Department, Lorain County Sheriff’s Office, Lorain County Public Health, local hospitals, and community organizations such as MADD Ohio work year-round to reduce impaired driving through enforcement, education, and prevention efforts; and
WHEREAS,      December is a month of increased travel and holiday gatherings, during which impaired-driving incidents historically rise, making awareness and prevention especially important; and
WHEREAS,      designating December as National Impaired Driving Prevention Month will help the City of Lorain encourage responsible decision-making, support community prevention initiatives, and promote safer roadways for all residents and visitors.
