AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION OR LEGISLATION TITLE
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE SAFETY/SERVICE DIRECTOR TO ACCEPT AND ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (ODOT) FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE BASCULE BRIDGE NOTIFICATION PROJECT.
PURPOSE AND BACKGROUND:
The City of Lorain was selected for federal CMAQ funding by the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency (NOACA), the project will be administered by the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) with the City of Lorain to improve air quality and reduce traffic congestion. The proposed CMAQ project will implement a real-time bridge notification system to improve public safety and reduce vehicle idling emissions. The proposed CMAQ project is an activity eligible to receive funding. The total project cost is estimated at $300,000, and these improvements are consistent with the city’s ongoing transportation, mobility, and air quality improvement goals.
RECOMMENDATION TO COUNCIL:
Consideration and passage.
