Resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute a Mutual Aid Agreement with Blue Earth, Nicollet, and Le Sueur Counties and cities therein.
Recommendation/Action(s):
Adoption of the attached resolution.
Summary:
Blue Earth, Nicollet, and LeSueur Counties as well as cities within those counties have entered into a mutual aid agreement with each other. The agreement expires December 31, 2024, and is due to be renewed. This mutual aid shares personnel and equipment of Fire, Police, EMS, Public Works, and others as necessary for use during a disaster or other event.
This is a standard agreement that does not include cost of equipment or salaries of personnel. These would be determined at the time of an event by existing wages and current federal equipment cost guidelines. There is a federal requirement (FEMA) that in order to be eligible to be reimbursed for mutual aid during a declared disaster, a mutual aid agreement must be in place prior to the disaster. Entering into this agreement does not guarantee that we would receive Federal reimbursement for every event that we respond to mutually. All cities within the three counties are being asked to join in this agreement.
