- Meeting Date:
- 02/24/2025
Agenda Item:
Motion approving on-sale intoxicating liquor license (Class B), Sunday liquor, and optional 2.m. license for US2, Inc. DBA as Social House, 509 South Front Street.
Recommendation/Action(s):
Motion approving application.
Summary:
An application has been submitted by US2, Inc., DBA Social House, 509 South Front Street, Mankato for an on-sale intoxicating liquor license, Sunday liquor, and optional 2 a.m. closing. Taxes are current for the premises. A liquor license-holder agreement has been negotiated between the applicant and the Department of Public Safety. A background investigation of all persons and premises names in the application reveals nothing that would preclude issuance of the licenses.
The premise will assume the former "Class B" license held by Red Rocks and subsequently maintained (paid) for each year by Eric Hayes. Such a license is an on-sale licensed establishment without food service that was grandfathered in when changes to the City Code were passed in 2007, and will continue to be allowed to be renewed. A change in ownership at the existing location will be allowed, and a transfer of location or expansion of the licensed premises by the license holder will also be allowed (CIty Code, Section 4.04, Subd. 2).
An additional fee of $533.34 for the investigation fee and prorated Sunday license will be set for deposit into the city's general fund.
