Resolution authorizing submission for 2025 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG), and motion approving Joint Agreement between the City of Mankato and Blue Earth County to share JAG Program Award.
Recommendation/Action(s):
Adoption of the attached resolution, and approval of motion.
Summary:
The City of Mankato will be applying for the 2025 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG). A funding notice has not yet been received; however, based on communication from the granting agency, the application period will be on a short timeline once announced.
The grant requires that the City share the award with Blue Earth County. An agreement has been reached with the County that the City will serve as the fiscal agency for the grant. The joint agreement outlines that the funds will be divided between the City and the County, with the City receiving a larger portion to provide fiscal and reporting oversight.
Both the Mankato Department of Public Safety and the Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office will use the funds on JAG-approved projects aimed at improving operations and/or efficiency.
