- Meeting Date:
- 09/22/2025
Agenda Item:
Report on project and motion approving contract amendment for Capital Improvement Project 11074; 2024 Resurfacing and Miscellaneous Sidewalks.
Recommendation/Action(s):
Motion approving contract amendment.
Summary:
In accordance with Section 2-8 of the Mankato City Code, the City Manager is to report as soon as practicable on additional work awarded on a unit price contract. The following is a summary of additional units of work for 11074 – 2024 Resurfacing and Miscellaneous Sidewalks Project.
The 2024 Resurfacing and Miscellaneous Sidewalks project is nearly complete with the final outstanding items of work being punchlist, crosswalk striping, and turf restoration.
During construction, it was identified that additional retaining wall work was required along Division Street. The proposed improvements consist of retaining wall replacement on the south side of Division Street and the Engineer, in coordination with Public Works, has determined that an additional height of wall is required to reduce drainage and erosion over the top of the wall.
Change Order 1
During the final inspection and punchlist work, the Engineer determined that the as-bid-installed sanitary sewer manhole lids are not per City Standards. The Engineer has directed the incorrectly specified manhole lids be removed and replaced with correct ductile iron lids labeled “sanitary sewer” with gasket and concealed pick holes. The value of the work is $4,000.00.
The original contract value was $1,156,974.75 with total change orders to date of $4,000.00. The current contract value is $1,232,249.39 with an estimated final contract value of $1,236,397.39. The additional contract value is proposed to come from the contingency budgeted for the project and Municipal State Aid funds based on the low bid being below the Engineer’s Estimate.
