Resolution petitioning District Court for a new appointment to fill a vacancy on the City of Mankato's Charter Commission pursuant to Minn. Stat. 410.05.

The City of Mankato is a Home Rule Charter City with an adopted charter. As part of the Charter, the city is required to have a Charter Commission. The District Court in Blue Earth County, acting through its chief judge, is the appointing authority for members to the city's Charter Commission, pursuant to Minn. Stat. 410.05. The Charter Commission currently has a vacancy. Minn. Stat. 410.05, Subd. 3, allows the City Council to submit to the Court the names of eligible nominees which the District Court may consider in making appointments to the Charter Commission. The Commission must be comprised of not less than seven, and not more than fifteen members. It is recommended that Jessica Potter replace the term of Juliann Dandu (who no longer resides in Mankato) commencing upon court appointment and expiring on June 30, 2028.

Staff recommends adoption of the resolution. Upon adoption, the City Clerk will send notice of the recommendation to the District Court for consideration.
