Resolution directing Traffic Control along Augusta Drive between North Riverfront Drive and Trunk Highway 22 by adding additional 30 mph signs.

In response to citizen service requests, staff conducted a comprehensive review of traffic control signage at associated intersections and roadway segments. The goal was to address safety concerns, improve clarity for drivers, and ensure compliance with the Minnesota Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MN MUTCD) and applicable City of Mankato policies in a consistent way.
 
On January 13, 2026, the Site Plan and Traffic Advisory Committee approved the recommendation to bring these items to the City Council for resolution with no additional conditions.

For the speed-related service request, staff completed multiple speed studies within the segment of concern and considered; roadway cross-section, horizontal and vertical alignment, existing speed limit signage and statutory speed limits, warning signs and other regulatory/advisory signs for consistency with state statutes, roadway conditions, and compliance with the MN MUTCD.

The following change is proposed:

1. Install additional statutory speed limit signs at strategic intervals along Augusta Drive between North Riverfront Drive and Trunk Highway 22.
