Resolution to approve Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Grant Funding Assistance for Capital Improvement Project 11200; Land of Memories Park.

Adoption of the attached resolution.

At the June 8th City Council meeting, Council accepted the feasibility report, authorized the preparation of plans and specs and advertisement of bids for the Land of Memories Park project. Within the council packet it was reported that the city was the successful recipient of a grant in the amount of $200,000 from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Outdoor Recreation Grant Program. City staff have been working with the DNR to finalize the grant agreement and the attached Resolution has been identified as a prerequisite.

At the March 4th, 2024, City Council meeting, Council authorized by Resolution the City of Mankato to submit for the Outdoor Recreation Grant. The attached Resolution is very similar to the Resolution passed previously with the main addition being a statement confirming the city has the financial capability to provide the remaining funds to complete the project. Upon execution of this new Resolution, the DNR will initiate the preparation of the grant agreement for execution. The final grant execution will not be until after City Council considers the bids, which are planned for the July 27th City Council meeting.

Construction Services Staff is recommending the Council consider the attached Resolution which will allow the DNR to prepare the grant agreement for the Land of Memories Park project.
