Resolution to accept MnDOT funding for the Airport Clear Zone Acquisition Plan.
Recommendation/Action(s):
Adoption of the attached resolution.
Summary:
The Mankato Regional Airport Capital Improvement Program (CIP) includes a state fiscal year 2027 project to prepare a Clear Zone Acquisition Plan in accordance with the 2025 Minnesota Administrative Rule 8800.2400.
MnDOT Aeronautics notified the City that it accepted the project and will provide 70% funding ($7,000), leaving 30% as local share ($3,000). Upon acceptance of the funding, a grant contract is prepared.
To continue eligibility to request funds for the construction, improvement, or maintenance of the airport and to provide for the safety of aircraft operations and populations in runway approach zones, airports must own one hundred percent of all clear zones in fee-simple based on planned build-out conditions in accordance with the dimensions provided or prepare a clear zone acquisition plan.
Pursuant to April 1, 2024, Professional Services Agreement with TKDA, planning services will be conducted by TKDA to prepare the plan. The cost of the plan was determined by MnDOT for all airports.
