Resolution authorizing the acceptance of Guardian Angel Devices donated to the Mankato Department of Public Safety.
Recommendation/Action(s):
Adoption of the attached resolution.
Summary:
The Mankato Department of Public Safety has received a donation of forty (40) Guardian Angel Devices from Mankato citizen, Derek Dosedel. The devices will be used to enhance the safety and situational awareness of Department personnel in the performance of their duties.
The Guardian Angel Device is a personal warning safety light designed as a high-visibility, rechargeable warning light that can be worn on a police uniform to increase officer visibility. This visibility is incredibly useful in a variety of instances, including, but not limited to, traffic stops, vehicle crash scenes, roadway incidents, crowded areas, and search operations.
The donation comes at no cost to the City of Mankato and directly supports the Department's ongoing efforts to equip personnel with tools that improve public safety.
Staff recommend that the City Council authorize acceptance of the donated Guardian Angel Devices to support the Mankato Department of Public Safety.
