Resolution appointing a Council Member to fill the unexpired term of Mark Frost (current Ward 3).
Summary:
Council Member Mark Frost resigned from City Council effective July 1, 2022, creating a vacancy in current Ward 3 on the City Council. Mankato City Charter, Section 2.07, Vacancies, Forfeiture of Office, Filling of Vacancies, states that if the unexpired term is for a period of 365 days or less, the Council shall forthwith appoint an eligible person to serve for the remainder of such unexpired term. With this, an advertisement and news release was sent out requesting letters of interest from Ward 3 with a deadline submittal date of July 29, 2022. At the Work Session on August 1, 2022, the Council reviewed and interviewed two candidates; thus, it is recommended that an appointment be made on August 8. The candidate appointed to the seat will hold the office until the 2022 general election, after which the winner of the election will take office as of January 2023.
