The City of Mankato Engineering Department recommends vacating 10 feet of right of way on both sides of the right of way. There is 80 feet of right of way throughout the corridor. This would propose 60 feet of right of way total. The current 80 feet of right of way is unnecessary in this part of town. Typical right of way throughout a residential neighborhood is 50 to 60 feet total, but it also depends on how it was plotted and developed. 
 
Overall, these improvements would help reduce conflicts within the current right of way and benefit homeowners throughout Germania Park. All of Germania Park is proposed to have the right of way vacated if it currently has 80 feet. Phases will be completed after the reconstruction at the direction of the engineer.
