Set September 9, 2024, as the date of public hearing for a variance from Section 10.13, Subd.6.C of the Mankato City Code to reduce the rear yard setback from 25 feet to 15.2 feet. The variance is being requested in order to construct a 26’ X 29.5’ attached garage addition at 102 Uriah Court.

Summary:
The applicants, Shawn Griffiths and Denise Schweim, are requesting to set a date of public hearing for review of a variance from Section 10.13, Subd.6. C of the Mankato City Code to reduce the rear yard setback from 25 feet to 15.2 feet. The property is described as Lot 16, Block 3, Copperfield No. 2, City of Mankato, Minnesota (102 Uriah Court).
The applicant is proposing to add on to the rear of their existing garage at their property at 129 Uriah Court. A new, 26’ X 29.5’, garage addition is proposed. A variance is requested to reduce the required rear yard setback from 25’ to 15.2’. In considering a variance, the application will be evaluated for practical difficulty standards as presented by the applicant and variance findings will be determined based on whether (League of Minnesota Cities Guidance):
Staff will hold an administrative hearing on August 28, 2024. Information gathered at the administrative hearing will be included with the recommendation for the City Council to review.
