Motion awarding quote for flood damage repairs on Cross Street.
Recommendation/Action(s):
Motion approving quote.
Summary:
A portion of Cross Street near the Mankato/North Mankato municipal limits sustained damage during the June 2024 flooding event where groundwater pressure caused a portion of Cross Street in Mankato and North Mankato to heave and then settle. Staff from Mankato and North Mankato have been working to make repairs to both cities' portions of the road since the flood event and have obtained a quote from Dirt Merchant, Inc to complete the work on both portions simultaneously. The estimated cost of the work is $133,188.00 with Mankato’s share costing $70,313.00 and North Mankato’s share costing $62,875.00.
Staff submitted the City’s preliminary damage assessment to FEMA on June 23, had our recovery scoping with FEMA on August 4, and intend to turn our damage inventory to FEMA prior to the November 3 deadline. The Cross Street repairs are contained in both the assessment and inventory.
Staff is bringing this motion before the Council as the repair of Cross Street is an un-budgeted expense and recommends the Council approve the motion awarding a quote to Dirt Merchant, Inc for flood damage repairs on Cross Street.
