Resolution approving Opioid Remediation Grant for Beyond Brink DBA WEcovery to assist in funding a Peer Recovery Specialist position.
Recommendation/Action(s):
Adoption of the attached resolution.
Summary:
The city received an Opioid Remediation Grant application from Beyond Brink DBA WEcovery requesting funding to assist with a Peer Recovery Specialist position.
The proposal is to continue support services recently covered under the MN Department of Health linkage to care grant in partnership with EMS. Through the program "Minnesota Harm Reduction Team", Beyond Brink, partnered with local schools, police, fire, EMS, housing shelters, hospital, clinic and other agencies to provide peer support, education, outreach, narcan training and distribution, 24/7 call or test support line resource navigation and general support to those experiencing substances, their families and community.
A grant review panel consisting of three staff members reviewed the application and recommended approval of grant allocations of $60,135, over the next three years, for the Peer Recovery Support Specialist position as follows:
This program would fall under several of the approved categories of the Opioid Remediation Grant guidelines.
