Resolution authorizing the State of Minnesota Hazardous Materials Response Team Joint Powers Agreement proposal.

Summary:
Mankato DPS Fire has been a Regional Hazardous Materials Response Team contractor for the State of Minnesota since 1995. The contract provides reimbursement of up to $90,000 per year for service from July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2027, to the City for annual team training and operations, and it reimburses the City for actual costs for public safety services outside the city in the 9-county south central Minnesota region.
State procedures require the City be authorized by the Council to submit a proposal for a new agreement with the Minnesota Department of Public Safety to fund operations of the regional Hazardous Materials Response Team and that the City Manager be authorized to execute such agreements.
