Agenda Item:

Recommendation/Action(s):
Motion approving change order.
Summary:
In accordance with Section 2-8 of the Mankato City Code, the City Manager is to report as soon as practicable on change orders approved under $100,000. The following is a summary of change orders to date for 11064 – Cree Point Outfall, which exceeds 5% of the construction cost.
The Cree Point Outfall project is nearly complete with the final outstanding major item of work being turf restoration. In order to complete this work, the contractor has proposed an alternate method of turf restoration for the ravine bottom and adjacent side slopes than what was originally bid consisting of sod and straw erosion control blanket.
Change Order 1
The contractor is proposing to complete the turf restoration utilizing a hydroseeding system consisting of a blend of seed, liquid fertilizer, and hydro-mulch applied by a spray hose to facilitate access in the lower portion of the ravine. The contractor will work with the property owners to access between houses with their hydroseeder hose to spray the lower portions of the ravine bottom. The value of the work is $13,866.30.
The original contract value was $137,731.39 with total change orders to date of $13,866.30. The current contract value is $151,597.69. However, the final contract value is expected to underrun the current contract value, providing an offset for most of the change order amount. The remaining amount above the original contract value is proposed to come from a contingency budgeted for the project.
