The city received an Opioid Remediation Grant application from the Sudanese Help Organization requesting $25,000 in support of programming that aims to promote youth recovery from opioid addiction and prevent substance abuse by offering after-school activities, early leadership development, and culturally informed support services. The program's focus is to support youth recovering from opioid addiction by providing early leadership development and engaging them in positive, youth-centered activities. This strategy aims to build resilience, promote healthy decision-making, and prevent relapse into opioids and other harmful addictions. 

The budget to support the program includes: Youth Activities and Cultural Programs, $5,000; Office Space/Administration, $3,600; Transportation Costs, $5,350; Consultation and Professional Fees/Education and Training, $8,000; Management Services, $3,050. The grant falls under G.9. of the guidelines for Opioid Remediation uses, which states:

Support efforts to discourage or prevent misuse of opioids through evidence-based or evidence-informed programs or strategies that may include, but are not limited to, the following: school-based or youth-focused programs or strategies that have demonstrated effectiveness in preventing drug misuse and seem likely to be effective in preventing the uptake and use of opioids.
A grant review panel consisting of three staff members reviewed the application and recommended approval of the grant allocation.
