Report on project and Change Order 1 for Capital Improvement Project 11078; West 7th Street Reconstruction.

In accordance with Section 2-8 of the Mankato City Code, the City Manager is to report as soon as practicable on change orders approved under $100,000.

11078 – W. 7^th Street Reconstruction – Change Order 1

• The Contractor has requested a time extension on the final completion date to complete the topsoil placement and turf establishment in the spring of 2026. An issue with the topsoil and turf establishment was identified in the fall of 2025, and due to inclement weather was not able to be remedied in 2025. The original final completion date was November 14, 2025, and the extension date requested for final completion is June 15, 2026, to ensure acceptable topsoil placement and adequate turf establishment. In addition to the time extension, this change order includes an increase in the contract amount due to a request by City Staff to install a handrailing at 406 W 7^th Street. This work will replace a handrail present prior to construction. Change Order 1 captures the total cost to fabricate, mobilize, and install the handrailing.
