Resolution authorizing the Mankato Department of Public Safety to apply for the Spark Good Local Partnership Grant Program.

Summary:
The Mankato Department of Public Safety has been invited to apply for funding through the Spark Good Local Partnership Grant program. The purpose of this grant is to support a partnership with Mankato Walmart to fund the annual Shop with a Hero event held each December.
The Shop with a Hero event provides an opportunity for local youth to engage with public safety personnel while receiving support during the holiday season. Previous authorized submissions of grant applications for this program have occurred, and grant funding has been successfully awarded in prior years to support the event.
Staff is requesting authorization to apply for the Spark Good Local Partnership Grant to continue supporting this valued community program.
