Report on Projects and Change Orders 1 and 2 for Capital Improvement Project 11206; Hiniker Parkway and Hiniker Pond Park Parking Lot.

Recommendation/Action(s):

No action, informational only.

Summary:

In accordance with Section 2-8 of the Mankato City Code, the City Manager is to report as soon as practicable on change orders approved under $100,000. The following is a summary of change orders to date for the following projects:

11206 – Hiniker Parkway and Pond Park Parking Lot – Change Order 1
The Hiniker Parkway (11206) project requires changes to the contract as noted below, for additional scope of work and to reconcile added materials not included in the project bid unit prices and quantities as noted below.
  • Additional signage has been requested to provide directions to the traveling public related to local business access, no outlet locations, and no parking (for emergency vehicle access). See attached Additional Traffic Signage Extras invoices.
  • Filtration basin filter media material is to be added to the Hiniker Parkway stormwater basin. These quantities were not included in the project bid form, but they are required to complete the work as planned.
  • Subdrain cleanout castings were shown in the plans as Sch-40 PVC threaded caps. These were changed to meet the city standard plate detailed cast iron casting/lid combination. This is for the cleanouts along Hiniker Parkway.
 
11206 – Hiniker Parkway and Pond Park Parking Lot – Change Order 2
The Hiniker Pond Park Parking Lot (11207) project requires changes to the contract as noted below, for additional scope of work and to reconcile added materials not included in the project bid unit prices and quantities as noted below.
  • Filtration basin filter media material is to be added to the parking lot stormwater basin. These quantities were not included in the project bid form, but they are required to complete the work as planned.
  • Pond stabilization improvements to the discharge pipe and overflow locations were proposed to the parking lot stormwater pond, to better fit field conditions. Riprap will be added to these locations for energy dissipation during rain events.
  • Subdrain cleanout castings were shown in the plans as Sch-40 PVC threaded caps. These were changed to meet the city standard plate detailed cast iron casting/lid combination. This is for the cleanouts in the parking lot.
  • Temporary fencing was requested by the owner to improve the parking lot construction site security and define a path for pedestrians and other park users during construction.
  • Additional conduit is being requested by city staff to provide a location for future fiber communications improvements planned in the area. This conduit is an added item to the contract.
