Report on Change Order 3 for Capital Improvement Project 11100; Mayo Clinic Health System Event Center Arena Audio System Improvements.

Summary:
In accordance with Section 2-8 of the Mankato City Code, the City Manager is to report as soon as practicable on change orders approved under $100,000. The following is a summary of change orders to date for 11100 – Mayo Clinic Health System Event Center Arena Audiovisual System Improvements.
Change Orders 1 and 2 were reported to City Council on September 14th, 2026.
Construction began on the project the week of June 26, 2026, and is now complete.
Change Order 3
The change order scope of work was to replace all aircraft cabling that connected the Arena speaker arrays to the ceiling deck. At the initial inspection, it was determined the aircraft cables were not properly manufactured and could become a safety risk if left in service. The aircraft cable inspections were done by both City staff and the City’s third-party vendor, Southern Minnesota Inspections. All aircraft cabling attached to the arrays was remanufactured and replaced.
Total cost for Change Order 3 was estimated at $36,000.00. Through negotiations with the contractor, the City incurred no cost for the work as the installation contractor paid all the associated costs.
The total project cost after Change Order 3 is $667,908.46, and within the original project budget of $673,381.
