Act on 2019-2020 Employee Health Insurance Rates
Background:
On February 15, 2019, the District received seven bids for the Employee Group Health Insurance. In accordance with the Health Insurance Transparency Act (HITA), the bids were opened with one member of the largest bargaining group. On March 12, 2019, the District employee insurance committee met and reviewed the bids and discussed the merits of each. Attached is the tabulation of all the bids. The South Central Service Cooperative bid projected a 6.5% increase for 2019-20 with the following rates:

Recommended Action:
The Insurance Committee recommends acceptance of the South Central Service Coop bid. By remaining with SCSC, there would be continuity of coverage and limiting employee disruption. The District would also continue to receive wellness dollars and other benefits with SCSC.
