2014-15 Superintendent Evaluation

Superintendent Sheri Allen was evaluated by the Mankato Area Public School Board in June.  The evaluation tool used was provided by the Minnesota School Boards Association, the professional organization the Board belongs to for leadership development.  Board members met in a closed study session on June 15 and reviewed the gathered information.  Based on the review, the following areas of strength were identified: 

• Communication
• Leadership team development
• Positive energy around education and student achievement
• Providing leadership through vision and strategy (Strategic Roadmap)
• Development of community partnerships
• Facility vision and planning 

The following areas were identified for continuing development: 

• Accountability for the follow-through of the Strategic Roadmap
• Following the building process

• building progress, deadlines
• construction

• Continued development of the leadership team
• Continued development of community partnerships 

Superintendent Allen, in this Board’s view, is a highly functioning education leader.  She has developed and maintains a working relationship with area K-12 schools and higher education institutions.  By using the Strategic Roadmap, Dr. Allen builds an emphasis on closing the achievement gap, training staff, building legislative understanding of education needs and community engagement.
