Adoption of Base Learning Model for the 2020-2021 School Year and Other COVID-19 Related Matters
Background:
In accordance with direction from the Minnesota Department of Education, Mankato Area Public Schools’ staff have developed a Safe Learning Plan that includes three learning models for the 2020-21 school year; in-person learning, distance learning, and hybrid learning.
Based on the Minnesota Safe Learning Plan, MAPS Back to School Plan and local public data related to COVID-19, the School Board is being asked to authorize Mankato Area Public Schools to adopt hybrid learning as its base model for the 2020-21 school year. Full-time distance learning option is also available to students.
The proposed resolution (attached) designates hybrid learning as the base learning model to start the 2020-21 school year and authorizes the superintendent to implement a different learning model for the entire district or specific schools after consultation with the School Board Chair and notification to the School Board.
