School Calendar Change for 2020-2021
Background:
The 2020-2021 school year will require significant ongoing staff development to best meet the needs of students in an ever-changing learning environment. As we have worked through the summer on the three learning models that may be implemented, it is clear that the typical schedule of two hours per month of professional development will be insufficient to meet the needs of our students and staff.
The recommended modification is to replace the two hour late start Tuesdays with K-12 Distance Learning days one Wednesday per month. On this day, students would engage in Distance Learning activities while staff engage in professional development, collaboration and preparation for student learning.
At tonight’s meeting, Director of Teaching and Learning Travis Olson and Professional Development Coordinator Sarah Morrison will present a recommendation to modify the school calendar that will result in additional professional development time for faculty and staff during the school year.
