Background:
Throughout the fall, Mankato Area Public Schools has conducted a review of its partner agreement with the Department of Public Safety that provides school resource officers in MAPS schools. This review has included data analysis, research on the role and responsibilities of SROs, the history of officers in MAPS and several opportunities for school stakeholders to share their views on the topic. Information was shared with you on several of these areas during the School Board work session on December 9.
Tonight’s presentation will include the administrative recommendation to restructure the partner agreement with the Mankato Department of Public Safety to better align with the school district’s strategic roadmap and the shared commitment of our two entities to racial equity.
