Approval of Equity Framework for Mankato Area Public Schools
Background:
For the past year, Mankato Area Public Schools has worked with the Minnesota Education Equity Partnership (MnEEP) to develop an equity vision and framework for the school district.
The MAPS equity planning process involved several components; a pre-assessment equity review; a District Leadership Training staff and administrators retreat; a series of equity committee meetings guiding best approaches to stakeholder engagement; guidance to the teaching and learning department; six parent/guardian visioning sessions; five youth visioning sessions; and a MAPS stakeholder strategic retreat to draft an equity framework and set of definitions.
It is recommended that you adopt the vision and mission statements, along with the equity lens guiding questions and definitions. Core values and commitments will be shared with the School Board once input is received from stakeholders this fall.
