Approval of Early Release Days for 2022-24 Calendars
Background:
When developing the calendars for 2022-23 and 2023-24, there was overwhelming support by staff and students to switch to an early release from the historic late start. After the 2022-23 and 2023-24 calendars were approved by the board, more time was needed to further study the impact of an early release change. The calendar committee, consisting of MAPS staff, meet again and put together an early out model. The model was shared with principals who sought feedback from their buildings. The result of this feedback was to recommend a two-hour early release PLC and to move from Tuesdays to Wednesdays due to co-curricular competition schedules.
Recommended Action:
Recommend approval of the shift to a two-hour early release PLC and to move from Tuesdays to Wednesdays for 2022-24 Calendars.
