Approval of 2016-17 and 2017-18 School Year Calendars
Background:
Six calendar options for the 2016-17 and 2017-18 school years were presented to the public for feedback from October 20 through November 16, 2015. Feedback was received supporting all options; the administration considered all feedback and rationale for choices. After weighing the feedback, it was recommended that the 2017-18 Calendar B option received the most positive feedback. However, we also had feedback that the calendars were similar and that another option should be made available with a shortened Spring Break and an earlier release of school (June 1st). Because of this request, additional feedback was accepted from November 30 through December 18, 2015 for the Original and New 2017-18 Calendar B option.
Recommended Action:
Based on both series of public feedback, the administration is recommending Board approval of Calendar Option B for 2016-17 and Calendar Option New B for 2017-18.
