Authorize MDE Review and Comment

Mankato Area Public Schools continues to explore options to address long-range facility needs across the school district.  On June 12, the School Board held a work session to receive updates on the planning process and to discuss the next steps based on community feedback, the results of the 2023 Minnesota legislative session, and statutory requirements.  At the work session, key administrators and project consultants explained the focus of the planning and the costs associated with a number of building solutions. The size of the overall amount being recommended would require a bond to finance all the project components. Minnesota statutes require school districts to submit a proposal of needs, solutions and costs (including financing and tax impact) to accomplish the work to the Minnesota Department of Education for its Review & Comment. 

Development and submission of this document requires authorization by the school board directing this action in preparation for a potential November 7, 2023 Bond Referendum Vote.
