Item Type:
Subject:
Approval of Resolution Establishing Absentee Ballot Board
Background:
Minnesota Election Law directs the governing body of each county, municipality, and school district with responsibility to accept and reject absentee ballots to establish an Absentee Ballot Board. The ballot board completes important work associated with the review, acceptance, and rejection of absentee ballots submitted by voters. The ballot board can be comprised of trained election judges and trained deputy county auditors.
The Property and Environmental Resources Department Director works within the election laws of the state to appropriately staff these ballot boards with trained, qualified, and impartial ballot board members to complete the work of the ballot board for each election. Ballot board membership and scheduling is made public in advance of the board’s work.
