As part of the 2023 bond referendum, the school district committed to helping address child care space needs in Eagle Lake. Over the past two years, district staff have worked with the City of Eagle Lake, local providers, First Children’s Finance and the Eagle Lake EDA to refine a plan that is both responsive to community needs and viable for operators.
 

The proposed project renovates two classrooms at Eagle Lake Elementary into dedicated child care suites, each with a kitchenette, bathroom, storage, direct exterior access and adjacent fenced outdoor space. A recent review by the Facilities Committee confirmed the design direction and additional feedback from providers and committee members will be incorporated into final documents.
 

The construction estimate is $1.18 million, which is $561,386 below the original bond budget.
